Full Oral Examination
Your dentist will perform a full oral examination of your teeth, gums and mouth, looking for signs of decay, disease or other problems. The goal of the dentist is to ensure that existing and potential problems are identified and communicated accordingly to the patient, with various options of treatment where applicable.
X-Rays
At Advance Dental Canley Heights, we recommend X-rays to be taken for every patient as it can diagnose problems that cannot be identified with the naked eye, such as decay between teeth, impacted teeth, abscesses, cysts, tumours, damage to jawbones etc. If you are pregnant, please inform the dentist and he/she will advise accordingly.
Cleaning
Regular check-ups always include a complete cleaning by the dentist with the use of special instruments that scrape below the gumline to remove built-up plaque and tartar that can potentially cause decay, gum disease, bad breath, tooth discolouration and other problems. The clean will also include flossing, polishing and fluoride treatment to enhance the health of the mouth.
